Your privacy matters. This policy explains what personal data we collect through janebertch.com, why, and your rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

2. What we collect

  • Newsletter and mailing list: your first name and email address when you join the list.

  • Contact and enquiry forms: your name, email address and anything you choose to include in your message.

  • Programme applications: information you submit when applying to a programme such as The Paris IncubatHER.

  • Technical data: IP address, browser type, pages visited and similar data collected automatically through cookies and site analytics.

3. Why we use it and on what legal basis

  • Sending the newsletter, prompts and updates on retreats, events and writing — your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.

  • Replying to your messages and enquiries — our legitimate interest in responding to you, or steps before a contract.

  • Reviewing programme applications and managing bookings — steps before a contract, or performance of a contract.

  • Keeping the site secure and understanding how it is used — legitimate interest, or your consent where cookies require it.

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with service providers who help us run the site and our communications:

  • Squarespace — website hosting, forms and analytics

  • Flodesk — email list and newsletter

  • Customer.io — email forms and audience management

  • Substack — the Prompts from Paris newsletter, if you subscribe there

  • Google (Google Forms) — programme applications

  • Instagram (Meta) — the Instagram feed shown on the site

Some of these providers are based in the United States. Where data is transferred outside the European Economic Area, it is protected by appropriate safeguards such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. How long we keep it

  • Mailing list data: until you unsubscribe.

  • Enquiries: up to 3 years after our last contact.

  • Application and client data: for as long as needed for the programme, then as required by French accounting and legal obligations.

6. Cookies

This site uses cookies that are needed for it to work and, with your consent where required, cookies for analytics and embedded content. You can manage your choices through the cookie banner and your browser settings.

7. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the use of your personal data, the right to data portability, and the right to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email contact@janebertch.com. You can unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in each message.

If you believe your data has not been handled properly, you can complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL (cnil.fr).

8. Security

We use reputable providers and reasonable measures to protect your data, but no online transmission is completely secure.
